Epidemiology:
- more common in women
Pathology:
- focal nodular hyperplasia in the liver
a) does not undergo malignant transformation
b) is not hormone-responsive
c) large central artery runs through a central scar radiating outward as smaller vessels through fibrous tissue that comprises the lesion
d) does not confer risk for major bleeding [1]
Differential diagnosis:
- cirrhosis
Management:
- resection only if mass effect on neighboring structure(s)
