Filamin-binding LIM protein 1 (FBLP-1, mitogen-inducible 2-interacting protein, MIG2-interacting protein, migfilin, FBLIM1, FBLP1)

Function: 1) anchoring site for cell-ECM adhesion proteins & filamin- containing actin filaments 2) role in cell shape modulation (spreading) & motility 3) role in regulation of filamin-mediated cross-linking & stabilization of actin filaments 4) regulates assembly of filamin-containing signaling complexes that control actin assembly 5) isoforms 1 & 3 interact with PLEKHC1, FLNA & FLNC 6) isoform 2 interacts with FLNB 7) interacts with NKX2-5 Structure: - contains 3 LIM zinc-binding domains Compartment: - cytoplasm; cell cortex - associated with actin stress fiber at cell-ECM focal adhesion sites - isoforms 1 & 3 are recruited & localized at actin stress fibers & clustered at cell-EMC adhesion sites through interaction with PLEKHC1 - isoform 2 is localized at actin stress fibers Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3 Expression: - isoforms 1 & 3 are expressed in heart, kidney, lung, pancreas, placenta & platelets - isoform 2 is expressed in brain, heart, kidney, lung, pancreas, placenta, skeletal muscle & platelets
