fibrinogen concentrate/thrombin; fibrin sealant (Raplixa)

Indications: - control surgical bleeding in patients for whom standard techniques (sutures) are insufficient Dosage: - spray-dried fibrin sealant - should be used with an absorbable gelatin sponge Adverse effects: - constipation - fever - hypotension - nausea - surgical pain Mechanism of action: - contains fibrinogen & thrombin - promotes clotting when dissolved in blood.
