Pathology:
- incomplete formation of blood vessels in the periphery of the retina
- retinal detachment & vitreous bleeding can occur, causing significant vision loss
Clinical manifestations:
- vision loss usually begins in childhood, gradually worsening over time
- some patients eventually become blind
