esophageal manometry
Assessment of esophageal motility.
Indications:
1) endoscopic-negative dysphagia
2) placement of a pH probe in relation to the lower esophageal sphincter
3) assessment of peristaltic function prior to anti-reflux surgery
Complications:
- opioid use within 24 hours of esophageal manometry is associated with increased frequency of esophageal spasm [4]
