Tradename: Emadine (emedastine difumarate) Indications: allergic conjunctivitis Dosage: 1 drop QID 0.05%, 5 mL pH: 7.4, osmolality 300 mOsm/kg Storage: 4-30 C Pharmacokinetics: 1) no significant systemic absorption 2) Ki H1 receptor 1.3 nM Adverse effects: 1) headache (11%) 2) others (< 5%) -> abnormal dreams, asthenia, bad taste, blurred vision, burning or stinging, corneal infiltrates, dermatitis, dry eyes, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, keratitis, pruritus, rhinitis, sinusitis, tearing Toxicity: -> somnolence & malaise after oral ingestion (reports) treatment is supportive Mechanism of action: -> histamine H1 receptor antagonist
