Notes: - allows for rapid, direct, and documented communication of recommendations from a consultant to the health care provider [2,3] - eConsult may shift some of the burden of specialty work to the referring primary care physician [1] - useful for communication with providers who have patients in rural communities far from in-person office access & without internet access [2] - asynchronous electronic consultation (e-consult) for patients in rural community without internet [3]
