ejection click
A high-pitched sound following S1.
* An S1 implies that pliability of the valve is maintained.
Etiology:
1) aortic stenosis, heard best at the apex of the heart
2) pulmonic stenosis, heard best at the left sternal border
3) dilatation of the aortic root
4) dilatation of the pulmonary artery.
5) bicuspid aortic valve (without aortic stenosis) [1]
* systolic click of mitral valve prolapse is not described as an ejection click [3]
