D site-binding protein (albumin D box-binding protein, albumin D-element-binding protein, TAXREB302, DBP)

Function: 1) transcriptional activator 2) recognizes & binds to sequence 5'-RTTAYGTAAY-3' found in promoter of albumin, CYP2A4 & CYP2A5 genes 3) modulates clock output genes, but not essential for circadian rhythm generation 4) regulation by circadian pacemaker component clock (putative) 5) role in circadian period & sleep regulation. 6) binds DNA as a homodimer or a heterodimer 7) forms heterodimer with TEF Structure: 1) belongs to the bZIP family, PAR subfamily 2) contains 1 bZIP domain Compartment: nucleus Expression: - ubiquitously expressed - expressed in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) & in most peripheral tissues, in a circadian rhythm
