Etiology: hereditary disorder
Epidemiology:
1) uncommon
2) 1% of patients with thrombosis
Laboratory:
1) low plasma fibrinogen by thrombin clotting method (50-130 mg/dL)
2) prolonged dilute thrombin time
Management:
1) anticoagulation
2) cryoprecipitate (as a source of fibrinogen) during surgery or following trauma
