Drug interactions: - combination may increase risk of - hyperkalemia - it seems as if trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is alone among antibiotics in this interaction with renin-angiotensin inhibitors - increased risk of hyperkalemia & sudden death in elderly taking ACE inhibitors or ARBs [2] - RR=1.38, absolute risk increase 0.2% [2]
