Drug interactions: - high caffeine intake combined with MAO inhibitor therapy can lead to severe hypertension [1]* * case report of patient drinking 10-12 cups of coffee/day while taking tranylcypromine [1] with BP of 220/120 mm Hg; BP returned to normal when he switched to decaf. Management: - limit caffeine intake to <= 200 mg/day for patients taking MAO inihibitors
