Drug interactions: - NSAIDs may inhibit antiplatelet activity of aspirin; interaction has only been reported for ibuprofen [1], but may be general property of NSAIDs; NSAIDs bind to COX-1 in platelets & inhibit platelet aggregation; however, binding is reversible & it competitively inhibits binding of aspirin to COX-1; aspirin binds irreversibly to COX-1 in platelets, permanently eliminating their tendency to aggregrate
