dihydroxyacetone phosphate acyltransferase; DAP-AT; DHAP-AT; acyl-CoA:dihydroxyacetonephosphateacyltransferase; glycerone-phosphate O-acyltransferase (GNPAT, DAPAT, DHAPAT)

Function: - membrane lipid metabolism; glycerophospholipid metabolism - may be part of an heterotrimeric complex composed of DAP-AT, ADAP-S & a modified form of DAP-AT acyl-CoA + glycerone phosphate = CoA + acyl-glycerone phosphate Structure: - the HXXXXD motif is essential for acyltransferase activity & may constitute the binding site for the phosphate moiety of the glycerol-3-phosphate (putative) - belongs to the GPAT/DAPAT family Compartment: - peroxisome membrane; matrix side - exclusively localized to the lumenal side of the peroxisomal membrane (putative) Pathology: - defects in GNPAT are the cause of rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata, type 2 Laboratory: - dihydroxyacetone phosphate acyltransferase in fibroblasts
