diffuse cutaneous (pseudoxanthomatous) mastocytosis (DCM)

A generalized cutaneous mastocytosis. Clinical manifestations: 1) yellowish, thickened appearance of skin 2) lesions smooth with scattered areas of elevation, resembling leather 3) exaggerated skin folds, especially in axilla & groin 4) large bullae may occur spontaneously or following trauma 5) may present as erythroderma Differential diagnosis: 1) Histiocytosis 2) secondary syphilis 3) sarcoid 4) histiocytoma 5) non-X histiocytosis
