diagnostic criteria for migraine with aura

Diagnostic criteria: 1) at least 2 attacks fulfilling other criteria 2) one or more of the following reversible aura symptoms a) visual b) sensory c) speech &/or language d) motor e) brainstem f) retinal 3) at least two of the following four characteristics a) at least 1 aura symptom develops gradually over > 5 minutes & 2 or more aura symptoms occur in succession b) duration of aura symptom 5-60 minutes, with duration proportionately increased if more than one aura symptom c) at least 1 aura symptom is unilateral d) headache after aura with an intervening symptom-free interval of < 60 minutes; headache may begin during the course of aura symptom(s) 4) not attributed to another disorder
