Function: 1) receptor for thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) 2) forms functional complex with TSLP & IL7R which stimulates cell proliferation through activation of STAT3 & STAT5 3) activates JAK2 4) role in development of hematopoietic system Structure: - belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family, type 5 subfamily - WSXWS motif appears necessary for proper protein folding & thus efficient intracellular transport & cell-surface receptor binding - box 1 motif is important for association with JAKs - contains 1 fibronectin F3 module Compartment: - isoform 1: cell membrane - isoform 2: secreted Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, kidney & adult & fetal liver - primarily expressed in monocytes & dendritic cells ? - weakly expressed in T-cells - up-regulated in activated peripheral monocytes & THP-1 cells Genetics: - gene encoding for this protein is located in the pseudoautosomal region 1 (PAR1) of X & Y chromosomes
