Dorsal surface of the sacrum marked by five prominent ridges:
1) median (central)
-> fused rudimentary spinous processes of the superior 3 or 4 sacral vertebra.
2) medial (intermediate)
-> fused articular processes
3) lateral
-> represent the tips of the transverse processes of the fused sacral vertebra Clinical feature: Inverted U - shaped sacral hiatus & sacral cornua.
