coronin-1A (coronin-like protein p57, coronin-like protein A, clipin-A, tryptophan aspartate-containing coat protein, TACO, CORO1A, CORO1)

Function: 1) component of the cytoskeleton of highly motile cells 2) invagination of large pieces of plasma membrane 3) protrusions of plasma membrane involved in cell locomotion 4) binds actin Structure: 1) belongs to the WD repeat coronin family 2) contains 5 WD repeats Compartment: - cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, cytoplasmic vesicle, phagosome - in non-infected macrophages, associated with the cortical microtubule network Expression: - expressed in brain, thymus, spleen, bone marrow, lymph node > lung, GI tract Pathology: - in mycobacteria-infected macrophages a) becomes progressively relocalized (from microtule network) & retained around the mycobacterial phagosomes b) retention on the phagosomal membrane prevents fusion between phagosomes & lysosomes
