convulsive syncope
Clinical manifestations:
- complete transient loss of consciousness & loss of postural tone
- generally occurs when standing
- hot weather may be a factor
- prodrome of nausea, lightheadedness, palpitations, visual disturbances
- non-epileptic myoclonus may be observed
- case presentations with duration of 20-30 seconds & 45 seconds
- recovery is rapid & complete
Special laboratory:
- video electroencephalography with tilt table testing [1]
Differential diagnosis:
- seizure
- atonic seizure (no prodrome, duration a few seconds)
