conflict of interest
Management:
- forego gifts from pharmaceutical, medical device & biotechnology companies
- accept only payment at fair market value for legitimate service
- do not make educational presentations or publish scientific articles that are controlled by industry
- do not meet with pharmaceutical or medical device sales representatives except by appointment at a physician's request
- do not accept drug samples except in certain situations for patients who lack financial access to medications
Notes:
- perceptions of conflict of interest are as important as actual conflicts of interest [5]
- The Open Payments Search Tool is used to search payments made by drug & medical device companies to physicians & teaching hospitals [6]
