Function: - chromosome cohesion factor involved in sister chromatid cohesion & fidelity of chromosome transmission - component of one of the cell nuclear antigen loader complexes, CTF18-replication factor C (CTF18-RFC complex) - CTF8 exists as a dimer with DCC1 Structure: belongs to the CTF8 family Compartment: - nucleus - associates with chromatin during S phase Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - ubiquitously expressed - abundant expression in kidney, skeletal muscle, testis, liver, ovary, & heart - moderate expression in prostate Pathology: - expression is significantly reduced in renal cancer & prostate cancer - no differential expression in breast cancer cells, between lobular carcinoma & normal lobules
