Divided into 3 layers: 1) External or investing layer (superficial lamina) -> Surrounds the neck. -> Encloses the trapezius & sternocleidomastoid muscles. 2) Middle or pretracheal layer -> In relation to the infrahyoid muscles. 3) Deep or prevertebral layer -> Applied to the vertebrae &axial muscles
