CD11b; integrin alpha-M; cell surface glycoprotein MAC-1 subunit alpha; CR-3 alpha chain; leukocyte adhesion receptor MO1; neutrophil adherence receptor; CD11 antigen-like family member B; (ITGAM, CD11B, CR3A)
Function:
- subunit of CD11b-CD18 complex (integrin CD11b/CD18)
Structure:
- the integrin I-domain (insert) is a VWFA domain
- integrins with I-domains do not undergo protease cleavage
- belongs to the integrin alpha chain family
- contains 7 FG-GAP repeats
- contains 1 VWFA domain
Compartment: membrane
Expression:
- granulocytes
- macrophages, monocytes
- predominantly expressed in monocytes & granulocytes
- activated microglia
- NK cells
- follicular dendritic cells
- myeloid cells at promyelocyte stage or later
Pathology:
1) expressed in:
a) AML-M1/AML-M2/AML-M3 ~35-70%
b) AML-M4/AML-M5 ~80-90%
c) hairy cell leukemia (virtually all)
2) genetic variations in CD11b influence susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus [7]
