Function: - one of the major cellular mRNA deadenylases - linked to various cellular processes including - bulk mRNA degradation - miRNA-mediated repression - translational repression during translational initiation - general transcription regulation. Structure: - subunits include: - CHAF1A, CHAF1B, CNOT1, CNOT2, CNOT3, CNOT4, CNOT6, CNOT6L, CNOT7, CNOT8, CNOT9, CNOT10, CNOT11, TNKS1BP1 - distinct complexes seem to exist that differ in probably mutually exclusive catalytic subunits [2]
