carboprost; 15-methyl-prostaglandin F2-alpha (Hemabate)

Tradename: Hemabate. (carboprost tromethamine) Indications: 1) post-partum bleeding 2) termination of pregnancy Dosage: - 250 ug IM or directly into the uterus every 15-20 min up to 4 doses. Injection: carboprost 25 ug, tromethamine 83 ug/mL (1 mL) Adverse effects: 1) common (> 10%) - nausea 2) less common (1-10%) - flushing 3) uncommon (< 1%) - hypertension, hypotension, hiccups, drowsiness, vertigo, breast tenderness, nervousness, fever, headache, dry mouth, vomiting, diarrhea, vasovagal syndrome, hematemesis, muscle pain, dystonia, blurred vision, bladder spasms, cough, asthma, respiratory distress, taste disturbance, septic shock
