Ca+2/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II inhibitor 2 (CaM-KII inhibitory protein, CaM-KIIN) (CAMK2N2)

Function: - potent & specific cellular inhibitor of CaM-kinase 2 (CAMK2) - traps Ca+2/calmodulin on CAMK2 - may play an important role in the regulation of cell growth when overexpressed in colon adenocarcinoma LoVo cells - traps Ca+2/calmodulin on CAMK2 - interacts with CAMK2A & CAMK2B in the presence of Ca+2/calmodulin or after autophosphorylation (putative) Structure: - inhibitory domain blocks CAMK2 binding to GRIN2B - belongs to the CAMK2N family Compartment: - nucleus - cytoplasm, cytosol - excluded from nucleus when coexpressed with activated CAMK2 Expression: - expressed in cell lines including hemopoietic cell lines & some tumor cell lines - highly expressed in stimulated dendritic cells & weakly expressed in unstimulated mature & immature dendritic cells - expressed in kidney, liver > heart, skeletal muscle, placenta > small intestine - expressed in HeLa cell S3, lymphoblastic leukemia MOLT-4, & Burkitt's lymphoma Raji cells > chronic myelogenous leukemia K-562 cells > colorectal adenocarcinoma SW480, & lung carcinoma A549 cells
