B-cell CLL/lymphoma 9-like protein (B-cell lymphoma 9-like protein, BCL9-like protein, Protein BCL9-2, BCL9L, DLNB11)

Function: - transcriptional regulator - acts as an activator - promotes beta-catenin transcriptional activity - plays a role in tumorigenesis - enhances neoplastic transforming activity of CTNNB1 (putative) - found in a complex with CDC73, CTNNB1 & PYGO1 - interacts with CTNNB1 Structure: - C-terminal domain is important for its transactivation activity (putative) - belongs to the BCL9 family Compartment: nucleus Alternative splicing: named isoforms=4 Expression: - expressed in fetal brain - expressed in lung, amygdala, eye, prostate Pathology: - BCL9L plays a role in tumorigenesis - expressed in breast cancer, - ductal & invasive ductal carcinomas of the breast - sporadic colorectal adenomas & colorectal carcinomas (at protein level) - expressed in pancreatic cancer & prostate cancer, head & neck cancer & embryonal tumor
