Pathology:
- congenital cyst that develops in the medial mediastinum from anomalous budding of the foregut during development
Clinical manifestations:
- most commonly develops in 2nd decade of life
Complications:
- infections
- may compress adjacent tissues, including esophagus if large
Management:
- surgical removal
