4) Mielke (modified): 2.8 +/- 1.6 minutes
5) Duke (ear lobe): 1-3 minutes

Increases: (prolonged bleeding time)
1) thrombocytopenia (platelets < 60,000-80,000/uL)
2) Glanzmann's thrombasthenia
3) von Willebrand's disease
4) Bernard-Soulier syndrome

7) Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome
8) Chediak-Higashi syndrome

10) hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasias
11) Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
12) myeloproliferative disorders
13) multiple myeloma & Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia
14) vasculitis
15) uremia
16) drugs
a) anti-platelet agents
b) non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
c) heparin may be associated with increased bleeding time
d) tricyclic antidepressants
e) high-dose beta-lactam antibiotics
f) phenothiazines
g) methylxanthines
