Tradename: Panoxyl. Indications: - adjunctive treatment of mild to moderate: a) acne vulgaris b) acne rosacea Contraindications: - pregnancy category: C Dosage: 1) wash: QD-BID 2) topical: apply sparingly QD initially, the gradually increase to BID-TID PRN Solution: 2.5%, 4%, 5%, 10%. 1.5 oz. Adverse effects: 1) many preparations are drying to skin 2) initial facial redness & irritation which resolves with continuous use 3) contact dermatitis 4) dryness & peeling Mechanism of action: 1) releases active oxygen radicals resulting in a decrease in the number of anaerobic bacteria 2) bactericidal & keratolytic
