Tradenames: Cetacaine.
Indications:
- topical anesthetic to relieve pain & gagging
Dosage: (aerosol)
- apply to affected area for approximately 1 second
0.5%, 56 g.
Adverse effects:
1) dose-related & may reflect high plasma levels
2) not common (1-10%)
- contact dermatitis, burning, stinging, angioedema
3) uncommmon (< 1%)
- methemoglobinemia in infants, tenderness, urticaria, edema, urethritis
