1) suspected avian flu
2) positive influenza antigen test for influenza A
Specimen:
1) nasal aspirate or wash (preferred)
2) naspharyngeal swab (acceptable)
3) transport in viral transport media
Specimen sent to Public Health Department
Deliver within 48 hours
Turn around time 24-72 hours
