atypical rib

Ribs [1,2 & 10-12] are atypical. 1st rib: 2nd rib: -> thinner, less curved & substantially longer than the 1st rib -> 2 facets on its head for articulation with the bodies of thoracic vertebrae (T1 & T2) & a tubercle for muscle attachment 10th-12th ribs: -> like the 1st rib, have only one facet on their heads 11th & 12th ribs: -> short & have no necks or tubercles
