atrophoderma of Pasini & Pierini

Epidemiology: - adolescents, young adults Clinical manifestations: - single or multiple sharply demarcated, hyperpigmented, nonindurated patches - usually on the back - lesions may be discrete or confluent - patches are marked by a slight depression of the skin, with an abrupt edge - consistency & feel of the affected skin remains normal [2] * images [4] Laboratory: - none specific - for exclusion - thyroid autoantibodies - anti-thyroid peroxidase Ab - anti-thyroglobulin Ab - anti-thyrotropin receptor Ab - Lyme disease serology (titer) Management: - no treatment is consistently effective - some patients respond to topical corticosteroids, antibiotics, or antimalarials [2]
