Indications: - hypercholesterolemia - homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia Contraindications: - combination has not been shown to improve cardiovascular outcomes better than atorvastatin alone Dosage: - 10 mg ezetimibe, 10-80 mg atorvastatin Adverse effects: - changes in liver function tests - muscle pain - memory loss - tendon problems Mechanism of action: - Liptruzet 10/20 lowers LDL cholesterol by 53% [1] - atorvastatin inhibits HMG CoA reductase - ezetimibe inhibits intestinal absorbtion of cholesterol - see atorvastatin & ezetimibe
