Origin: external carotid artery Branches: 1) muscular branches a) digastric b) stylohyoid c) sternocleidomastoid 2) parotid branches 3) stylomastoid artery 4) occipital branch 5) auricular branch Anastomoses: 1) anterior tympanic artery (via stylomastoid artery) 2) occipital artery Course: Passes rostrally between the parotid gland & styloid process & between the cartilage of the auricle & mastoid process.
