Origin: external carotid artery (terminal branch)
Branches:
1) transverse facial artery
2) middle temporal artery
3) orbital branch
4) parotid branch
5) anterior auricular branch
6) frontal branch
7) parietal branch
Pathology: This is the temporal artery affected in & biopsied in cases of temporal arteritis.
