Branches: superficial & deep
Course:
1) superficial branch
- pierces the aponeurotic covering of Hunter's canal & accompanies the long saphenous nerve to the inner side of the thigh
2) deep branch
- descends in the substance of the vastus internus
Distribution:
1) superficial branch
- integument of the upper & inner part of the leg.
2) deep branch
- knee-joint
Anastomoses:
1) superficial branch
- with the inferior medial genicular artery (branch of popliteal artery)
2) deep branch
- with the superior medial genicular artery & anterior branch of the anterior tibial
