-> Anterior division of internal iliac artery
Course:
-> Runs medially in base of broad ligament superior to cardinal ligament, crossing superior to ureter, to sides of uterus
Distribution:
1) uterus
2) ligaments of uterus
3) uterine tube
4) vagina
5) supplies maternal circulation to placenta during pregnancy
Anastomoses:
1) ovarian artery
2) vaginal artery
3) inferior epigastric artery
Note:
This artery is the female homologue to the artery of the ductus deferens (deferential artery) in the male.
