Origin: splenic artery Distribution: gastric wall Course: -> ascends retroperitoneally in the posterior wall of the omental bursa towards the gastric fundus Note: It is omitted from many accounts of the blood supply of the stomach. Its presence may complicate surgery involving the cardia of the stomach.
