Origin: inferior mesenteric artery Distribution: upper part of rectum Anastomoses: 1) middle rectal artery 2) inferior rectal artery Pathology: As a tributary of the portal vein, anastomosis with the middle or inferior rectal artery forms a portocaval anastomosis.
