Origin: internal pudendal artery Distribution: 1) anal canal 2) muscles & skin of anal region 3) skin of buttocks Anastomoses: 1) middle rectal artery 2) perineal artery 3) gluteal artery 4) superior rectal artery* * The superior rectal artery is a tributary of the portal vein. The middle & inferior rectal arteries drain into the inferior vena caval system. The anastomoses between the superior & middle or inferior rectal arteries form a portocaval anastomosis.
