The shorter of the 2 terminal branches of the pulmonary trunk (left & right pulmonary arteries). An elastic artery with many elastic lamella in the tunica media. Origin: pulmonary artery (trunk) Branches: (frequent variations) 1) superior lobar arteries 2) lingular artery 3) inferior lobar arteries Course: -> penetrates the pericardium to enter the left hilum of the lung
