Antibody to mannan.
Etiology:
- Crohn's disease
Clinical significance:
- associated with Crohn's disease.
1) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, detection of 2 of 3 antibodies:
a) anti-laminaribioside
b) anti-chitobioside
c) anti-mannan is 99% specific for Crohn's disease,
2) higher titers of anti-laminaribioside or anti-mannan associated with small intestinal disease
