ANP receptor-C; atrial natriuretic peptide clearance receptor; atrial natriuretic peptide C-type receptor; ANPRC; ANP-C; NPR-C (NPR3 ANPRC)
Function:
- receptor for natriuretic peptide hormones
- has broad specificity & can bind several distinct natriuretic peptides, including
a) atrial natriuretic peptide (NPPA)
b) brain natriuretic peptide (NPPB)
- does not have guanylate cyclase activity
- probably responsible for the clearance of natriuretic peptides from the circulation without a role in signal transduction
- low affinity for peptide hormones in the absence of bound chloride
Structure:
- homodimer; disulfide-linked
- dimers can also be formed through the C-terminal Cys of isoform 2
- belongs to the ANF receptor family
Compartment: membrane
Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2
