Etiology: 1) chorioretinitis a) cytomegalovirus (CMV) b) Pneumocystis carinii c) Toxoplasma gondii d) histoplasmosis 2) acute retinal necrosis a) Herpes zoster b) Herpes simplex c) rapidly progressive visual loss, vascular occlusion, vitreous inflammation, optic neuritis 3) progressive outer retinal necrosis a) Herpes zoster b) ill-defined, homogeneous peripheral retinal opacities ithout vitreous inflammation or ocular pain c) loss of vision from extensive necrosis or retinal detachment d) poorly responsive to acyclovir 4) uveitis 5) keratitis
