Etiology:
1) all cell lines
2) thrombocytopenia
a) immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)
b) thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)
c) megakaryocytes may be directly infected with HIV
3) anemia
- pure red cell aplasia (Parvovirus B19)
4) neutropenia with pseudo Pelger Huet forms
