Function: - lacks the metalloprotease & disintegrin-like domains typical of ADAMTS proteases - O-fucosylated by POFUT2 on Ser or Thr - fucosylated repeats can be further glycosylated by addition of a beta-1,3-glucose residue by B3GALTL - fucosylation mediates the efficient secretion of ADAMTSL1 Structure: - C-, N- & O-glycosylated - contains 4 Ig-like C2-type domains - contains 1 PLAC domain - contains 9 TSP type-1 domains Compartment: - secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix Alternative splicing: - named isoforms=6 - at least one isomer may be produced at very low levels due to a premature stop codon in the mRNA, leading to nonsense-mediated mRNA decay Expression: - expressed primarily in adult skeletal muscle
