Etiology: - idiopathic Epidemiology: - much less common than acute disseminated encephalomyelitis Pathology: - hyperacute form of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis - perivenular demyelination - diffuse hemorrhagic necrosis of the central nervous system Complications: - death is the usual outcome Management: - not well established - combination of immunosuppression &plasma exchange has been proposed
